What's up with the tatic of "you're going to lose all your teeth"?My aunt lived to be 94 w/o having a cleaning

My aunt had all her teeth when she died!

In 1997 I had deep cleaning by a dentist. He was very rude to me while I was undergoing the procedure by telling me I could lose all my teeth since I hadn't been taking good care of them (his opinion). I told him I did take care of them. When I am treated rudely by a person in the medical profession, I always change doctors. Once I started going to a different dentist, I never was told to have another deep cleaning again! It's 2008 and I haven't had one since that last awful experience. I have to wonder if that first dentist made his patients do it so he could go on a cruise. I am in the midst of changing dentists, after 4 yrs. with the same one due to the hygenist. She saw I had roots exposed but Zipped across them as I was crying and begging her to stop. This gal was downright rude. This office uses the tatic of "you're going to lose all your teeth if you don't come in every 3 mos. for a cleaning". How many of you believe this is true?

Reply:you need to get them cleaned every 6 months and as long as you brush twice a day and floss you should be fine as well as getting them checked on for cavities, i think you just have bad luck with dentists!
Reply:i dont really care much for the dentist..i have perfect teeth..white and all but i dont go every 6months for cleaning. so its not true
Reply:I'm pretty sure it's a good idea to brush every day. Don't know about the dental teeth cleaning bit. I think maybe they just want the money. I haven't been to a dentist in about twenty five years .

I recommend Colgate Cavity Protection.
