Do puppies lose their baby teeth? I have a Maltipoo and she lost two teeth today.?
yep. i saved all the puppy teeth i found and made my dog a little "puppy book" with pictures of its first bath and all that stuff.
Reply:Yes, and they will get new ones..
Reply:Yes, puppies do lose their teeth.

Her adult teeth will have all come through by the age of 1. If you are worried, consult your vet.

It is normal, so don't be scared =)

Sam
Reply:yes, just like children, they lose their teeth. If she is 6 months though, she should be nearing the end of that phase. She may have one or two baby teeth left, or those could have been her last ones.
Reply:yea they are supposed to. just like humans, they need bigger teeth! dont get to freaked out! lol
Reply:Yes. Just like humans loose their teeth so adult teeth can come in the same thing happens with dogs. They will loose most of their puppy teeth by 7-8 months of age and most owners don't even notice that they've lost them because the adult tooth is pretty much already there. Hope I helped some. Good luck
Reply:Yes, now she'll get her adult teeth. I'm sure she has lost others you just happened to see these. It's all normal, not to worry. All the best;~)
Reply:Yes,you need to know these things BEFORE you own a dog.I do hope you've taken her to a vet for shots and spaying!
Reply:That's normal. They lose teeth just like kids do.
Reply:Yes. :)

here's a link with some advice on it:

Reply:Its totally normal, theyre just losing their baby teeth just as humans lose their baby teeth when they are younger. Dont worry about it.
Reply:Yes they loose their teeth just like people. She will continue to loose them until she has lost all the baby teeth. Ask your vet how long this takes. That I do not know. Dogs pretty much can do this with out help so do not worry, but keep an eye out for problems just like you would for anything.
Reply:Yes, all puppies lose their teeth at some point in their puppy-hood. This process is called 'teething*'

(*sometimes puppies chew on things during teething)
Reply:it's really normal, so don't you worry about it!
Reply:Puppies do lose their baby teeth. I have a dog but he was already a year old when we got him. My best friend's puppy has lost many teeth though. So there's nothing for you to worry about:)
Reply:yup, they are her baby teeth, u r lucky ! u get to keep them, most dogs will juz eat them up , i keep a few teeth from my 4 dogs in their pictures book
Reply:Yes....all dogs, like humans, loss teeth. the whole process is actually quite fast. I kept all my dogs teeth. He's still a puppy!
Reply:Yes they do! They're like us and also have a set of baby teeth and adult teeth.
Reply:yes, they do. they swallow them most of the time to0.
Reply:yes they do and you might come see a double teeth lookin like it had 2 teeth but then the baby teeth fall out and the other one stays in

If kittens lose their teeth do they grow back, because my kitten Otis lost 2 teeth?

Yes remember they are just like babies, toodlers and will lose their baby teeth and then their adult cat teeth will grow into place just like what happens to people and puppies. That is why many times kittens and puppies chew alot.

If kittens lose their teeth do they grow back, because my kitten Otis lost 2 teeth?
They lose them and grow them back, just like humans do. It might take a few week though.
Reply:Ithink they will, just feed it soft food for a few weeks.
Reply:they are probably the baby teeth (milk teeth) so the adult ones will come in
Reply:yes they shed their baby teeth when they are about 3-4 months old and should have all their big cat teeth by 6 months of age.
Reply:If these were "baby" teeth they will be replaced by his permanent teeth, just like human's... however, be aware that it is very common for cats to get gum infections that can cause loss of teeth. If a cat looses permanent teeth they wont grow back.
Reply:kittens and puppies have deciduous(baby ) teeth just like humans. They fall out and adult ones grow in their place.
Reply:Kittens lose their teeth just like kids. Their adult teeth will grow in to replace them.

How can I get my 9 year old to brush his teeth?

I've made a checklist with his daily responsibilities, so forgetting is no longer an option. He has to complete 5 days worth of checklists to get a prize. He is still having trouble brushing his teeth, even with the incentive. Any ideas? I don't want him to lose his teeth at an early age or ever for that matter.

How can I get my 9 year old to brush his teeth?
first things first, numerous studies have proven that when children receive external rewards for a behavior they are less motivated internally to continue the behavior. basically, your son isn't finding any good things in brushing that would cause him to continue on his own, instead he is completely depending on the reward. this type of conditioning has a high extinction rate, meaning that the behavior (brushing his teeth) will eventually stop because the reward is dull or doesn't provide the same sense of satisfaction it initially did.

instead, here are some other things you can try:

-brush with your child

-purchase fruit flavored toothpaste. perhaps he hates the minty flavor. you can find these next to the kid's toothbrushes.

-make a FUN routine out of brushing. sing a song, listen to a favorite song while brushing, etc

-make it a contest: ask your dentist for those tablets that show plaque. brush with your child to see who can get rid of their plaque the best. after brushing, both of you take a tablet and see who won the challenge. do the challenge every once in a while for fun, not every night or it will get boring.

also, i am a sociology student conducting an anonymous study on relationships. if you are interested, visit: http://geocities.com/sbiv37/marr
Reply:I actually use a kitchen timer set for 2 minutes with my son. But I've heard music can help too. Maybe record his favortie song or only play "that" song while he brushes for two minutes. Try showing him pictures of rotted out teeth online too, it might scare him straight LOL. Good luck.
Reply:Call me harsh, but I showed my daughter pictures of magnifyed germs and how icky they are, and then people with severe gum problems.(the pictures also worked for hand washing) Cured that right up. She even flosses every night. I recommend the floss that is on the u shaped plastic. It's easier for their hands. Has he been to the dentist? Any cavities? That also helped my daughter. The dentist had a talk with her.

Also I purchased one of the spinning toothbrushes that I can replace the head and she enjoys using that.
Reply:buy bubblegum flavored toothpaste
Reply:I think that you should get some good tasting toothpaste.
Reply:they have that kids mouthwash that shows all the buildup on their teeth so they know where to focus most when brushing. show your child how nasty his teeth are. oral hygiene is a must. gl as i have 4 children and for the life of me dont understand why we have to fight them to brush their teeth. they also have toothbrushes with timers in them so your child brushes for the right amount of time.
Reply:Why don't you take him to the store and let him pick out his own cool toothbrush and toothpaste. That way he feels like he is involved instead of just being told LOL It helped my stepson to get this kid's toothbrush that when you press the end ...a light flashes...and you are supposed to brush as long as the light flashes.

Also, I agree about brushing with him.
Reply:I have always had the same problem with my son. I just remind him in the morning and in the evening to brush. He's 11 now and he is getting better about it as he gets older. He still forgets sometimes in the morning, but he takes his shower at night and usually when I ask him if he brushed he has. I realize that he needs to take responsibility for it. But I am the mom and it is my responsibility to remind him if he forgets.
Reply:i bought my 5 and 8 year old boys this stuff called "firefly" mouthwash...when you pour the mouthwash into the top, there is a flashing light timer that goes off for 30 seconds to tell them its time to spit it out..they have wanted to brush 3 times a day since i got it...i think i found it at k mart.....
Reply:I like a lot of the suggestions here. Really cool toothbrushes help too - ones that blink while you brush (auto shut off after two minutes), Hot Wheels, superheroes, the spinning ones with batteries...whatever he likes. The other thing that helped us with our 9 year old boy was doing a "bath basket" that his toothbrush and toothpaste were included in (as well as deodorant so he could mirror his older brother, soap, Q-tips, nail clippers, hairbrush, bubble bath, colored bath tablets and silly foam soap), so it was easier to work into the routine instead of forget, checklist or no.
Reply:Sorry to say so but in our household the kids don't get rewarded for doing things they SHOULD be responsible enough to do for themselves (brushing their teeth, taking a shower, not throwing their clothes on the floor, etc)... so we dock them a dollar of allowance every time we find out they've gone without brushing their teeth all day. We have a 10 year old, 11 year old, and a 13 year old... and the 13 year old is routinely the hardest to get to do ANYTHING having to do with hygeine. So he ends up with the least allowance from time to time until he decides to be responsible. Sorry to put it out there but we tried reminding him repeatedly- we tried giving them points for doing what they were supposed to do- praise, etc... nothing worked except making their finances hurt. And yeah, they have their favorite toothpaste, cool brushes, time to do it-- they just choose not to.

Admittedly, 9 is a little young for our method but in the end, most people end up where we have- by having to make a harsh decision in order to help them be responsible.
Reply:a character battery powered toothbrush costs 500 at walmart and kids Aquafresh toothpaste
Reply:Do what I did.Go in the bathroom with him and watch him. After awhile he'll get sick of it and start doing it right...Good luck

I'm 24 and i still have all my baby teeth! why?

i have never lost a tooth! x rays show that permanent teeth are there. they just won't push through! what do i do about this? please help

I'm 24 and i still have all my baby teeth! why?
I never heard of that. You may want to ask your dentist.
Reply:wow i never heard of that..you need to ask dentist. If they xray it, he should of told you why.
Reply:See a dentist and ask them.
Reply:um i would get them pulled, im 12 and i got 7 baby teeth pulled yesterday, it wasnt bad
Reply:I'm 21 and still have four of the main ones towards the back. Infact wisdom teeth has started to grow behind them.

I ain't got a clue what my body does. it seems to be on autopilot.
Reply:well i have on baby tooth still and im nineteen..my permanent tooth is also there. i had to get braces 2 years ago and one of the options was leaving the tooth there or pulling it down to straighten my teeth. i choose to leave it there because it would take and additional 3 yrs to bring that tooth down and i would still be wearing the braces..i dont know about all ur teeth though..thats strange what has ur dentist suggested doing?
Reply:what they would do is cute your gums open ( sounds bad I know ) and pull out your baby teeth and use something to pull the other set down...my brother had 4 sets of teeth, and had a similar problem with not loosing his baby teeth...operation was pretty simple, and recovery was quick...I would talk to your desntist about what they recomend in your case.
Reply:If this were true it would be HIGHLY unusual.

There is an average schedule of when to expect deciduous(baby)

teeth to fall out, but most lose all their baby teeth no later than 14 or so.

It is not uncommon for some to hold onto a little longer, but at 24?

that would be quite rare. There are also come cases where

baby teeth don't fall out because the permanent tooth that is to replace them is missing. Even in this case, I have never seen more than 3 on one patient.

You say you have an x-ray. I presume that means a dentist took it? If so, what is his explanation or prognosis? If in fact this is true and you have all of your baby teeth still, you could be documented in a dental book for future reference.

Are the benefits of flossing one's teeth proven?

My dentist is angry with me if I don't floss. However, I don't feel to sure about it. I feel like my gum might be receeding from flossing. Also a colleague told me that one might permanently damage the gum by scarring it. Another colleague claims he lost a teeth due to flossing, because he pushed some food under the gum.

It just seems slightly weird. The dental industry has a lot of money and good experience with marketing. Perhaps they just want to sell floss?

Are there longterm studies proving the benefits of flossing?

Are the benefits of flossing one's teeth proven?
I'm a dentist.

Let me put it to you this way: we haven't "proven" that such a thing as electrons exist and orbit the nucleus of atoms. We have plenty of evidence that leads us to such a conclusion, and that's good enough for modern science.

It has been PROVEN that not floosing puts you at greater risk of tooth decay on the "inbetween" areas of your teeth. I see these areas of decay on x-rays on a daily basis. And your gums recede when you DON'T floss. Of course, you don't want to injure your gums with the floss, just like you don't want to scrub your skin raw in the shower.

Besides, I get no money from Glide or Oral-B or any floss manufacturer. If anything, in my practice, we give this stuff out to patients.

Have a little more trust in your dentist.
Reply:I was told the same thing i would use a pick just like they use in the office.Pulls food up.
Reply:I found an article about a real experiment that was conducted to see if floss is better than just brushing. Here it is:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query...
Reply:Did your collegues attend dental school? If not, you probably shouldn't listen to them too much about medical issues. It just seems like telling someone to lay out in the sun as much as possible because they knew someone who got rickets by never going out in the sun. Flossing reduces plaque and tartar build up, which in the long run can save your teeth and even help to lower the risk of heart attack. If your gums are receeding from flossing - don't push so hard when you floss.
Reply:You have to floss because if you don't, you are going to get gingavitis. You just need to learn the right way how to floss, ask your dentist.
Reply:i went to the dentist 2 days ago actually and they did the xray where you put ur head in it and when he looked at my xray, he asked if i flossed. i told him no not really and he said that he didnt think so. he showed me the xray of my gums and they were like receding. i asked him why and he said that its not plaque but when you dont floss, you get a hard buildup in between your teeth and as you eat, it pushes the buildup in your gums. when it gets in your gums, its like an acid and it eats away at your jaw. he told me that i especially need to floss before i go to bed at least. so yeah, i think that you are benefitted by flossing
Reply:Takes out plaque and food, prevents cavities.
Reply:Look up "Interproximal Decay" and this will help you make up your mind.

At what age do children's teeth fall out?

my son will be 8 soon he has not lost any teeth

At what age do children's teeth fall out?
most children begin to lose teeth at about age 6. what causes a child to lose teeth is the permanent teeth growing under them put pressure on the baby teeth and cause them to get loose. it is a small possibility that he does not have permanent teeth to replace the baby teeth so the baby teeth are not getting loose, or his permanent teeth are growing a little out of place and not putting pressure on the baby teeth. i would take him to a dentist and they will take a panorex x ray to make sure he has all of his permanent teeth. he is probably just a late developer so i would not be too concerned yet. the first teeth he should lose will be his 2 front teeth on the bottom (not top).
Reply:he will soon then as my daughter lost hers between 5 and 8
Reply:you can't be hitting him hard enough
Reply:My eldest son is almost 12 and still has a good few baby teeth his brother nearly 10 has only lost his 8 front baby teeth their teeth are in good condition not a filling in sight i think they fall out when the adult teeth is ready to come through,my kids started to loose baby teeth around about 8 and I'm just over 40 and still have one baby tooth
Reply:,You haven't feed him enough sugar, you cruel mother
Reply:Usually it's at about 7 years old. If your son's teeth have not fall yet, it's not serious. It will fall down anyway. Maybe because they are still strong. Did you give him a lot of fluor?
Reply:my son is nearly 7 and he lost3 in the past week.
Reply:usually six or seven
Reply:age 6 and up' the first teeth you'll see to fall out is the central incisors... the two big teeth in front. take him to the dentist and have the teeth needed to be pulled because if not, your child's permanent teeth might grow out of place and will need serious dental health care

let your child drink vitamin a,c,d for stronger teeth afterwards
Reply:There is some variation in the age that the first teeth exfoliate (fall out). Usually from 5-8 with boys (esp caucasian) at the later age. As usual, my advice to people is to ask their dentist or consult with a pediatric dentist to make sure that the adult teeth are present and see what is causing the delay. Also, sometimes the lower front teeth erupt behind the baby teeth so it might look like he has a double row of teeth on his lower jaw.
Reply:the teeth usually start falling at the age of six year's some time due to malpositioning of successors, any factor that is resulting in lack of resorption of roots of deciduous teeth and many other factors.better to consult dentist to avoid from orthodontic problem.
Reply:My son just lost his two bottom front teeth and he is 5-1/2. I think it varies greatly though. He has friends who have lost some before him and many who have no loose teeth at all.
Reply:I lost my first tooth when I was nine! I am like sixteen yrs old and I still have 2 baby teeth! well thats a different story since I have no permanent teeth under them! They never have, are. or will develp! (implant soon). But I doubt thats hat will happen, its in my family's genes. They will soon! Good Luck!

Are dogs suppose to loose there teeth?

my little chihuahua chica is 5 months old. she lost 2 teeth this week. is that suppose to happen?

Are dogs suppose to loose there teeth?
They sure do lose their teeth. And yours is right on time, too ... it usually happens between 4 and 6 months. Sometimes they even lose a bunch at once, which can look pretty strange!

But the adult teeth grow in quickly, so don't worry. Your pup might be a little cranky while she's losing teeth and growing new ones, and she may be a little less interested in her food than usual. You might even notice her mouth bleeding from time to time. Again, nothing to worry about. But with a tiny breed like a Chihuahua, you have to make sure she does eat. If she's refusing food, call your vet. Otherwise, she should be fine!

Enjoy your puppy!
Reply:Yes they are her baby teeth.
Reply:Yes, they will lose their baby teeth and grow new ones in, dogs lose their teeth all through their lives, but when the adult teeth are lost, they do not grow back,.......
Reply:Yes, because I assume they are her baby teeth. Her adult teeth should be along soon---she should not lose those.
Reply:Yes, they lose their puppy teeth and get their adult teeth. Normal.
Reply:Yes she is getting ready for her adult teeth.
Reply:yes they do it's their baby teeth but their adult teeth grow after they fall out.
Reply:Yes dogs loose their teeth just like humans. Although with a small breed or any dog it is a little hard to find them all, sometimes they will swallow the tooth. I kept my Bichon's baby teeth and put them in a scrap book just like you would a baby. I found all but two. The usually loose them in sets of two, so that is completely normal. Make sure to give your dog a present from the puppy tooth faerie, like a toy or a cookie he might really love.
Reply:yes all dogs do,they start falling out at about 4 and five months
Reply:at this age all puppies lose their baby teeth just like humans do.

Are you or someone you know female and has had all of your teeth removed before age 30 for any reason?

What I want to know is, I have a girlfriend who has had all her teeth removed before age 30. It is very sexy and awesomely stunning! She keeps it very well hidden and gets compliments on her "beautiful teeth" all the time. No one knows they aren't real. So how many more under granny aged women have lost their teeth and are hiding it? Is it more common than you would think?? PLEASE POST THE NEAREST CITY (CITY%26lt; STATE%26lt;COUNTRY) OR REGION SUCH AS NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST, S.WEST AND SO ON. This is NOT a joke question, although the answers may be funny I am for real. She is a girlfriend of mine so I have NOTHING against it and quite enjoy the concept as much as those who get their teeth capped in gold. I like the softness of her kisses! THERE WAS A MEDICAL REASON BEHIND IT, don't be childish in your answers.

Are you or someone you know female and has had all of your teeth removed before age 30 for any reason?
She needs to be carefull with jaw decay...

She should get the 'perminate' fake teeth before her jawline decays into nothing...

The kind they drill into your jaw...

Seriously, especially happening so yougn she REALLY needs to look into that.

Reply:It is common for men and women in their 40's and 50's because there wasn't the new stuff that can be done now days. A lot of Dentists just pulled the tooth if there was a cavity and put in a bridge. I have a friend who has a false upper plate. She was in a car accident about 40 years ago. She looks great and you would never know they are false, but she had her new teeth put in the day they were pulled. The Dentist told her if she didn't keep them in the gums would begin to flatten and there wouldn't be a foundation to hold them in place.
Reply:In my part of the country(Texas) this is fairly common. Genetics seems to be a big player in this problen here. Also year's ago most people had well water and didn't realize the importance of floride.
Reply:I had really bad teeth all thru school and I had quite a few out before I even got to high school. Most of my family has no teeth cuz bad teeth runs in the family. First thing I done when I got out of high school was have what teeth I had left pulled out. I was losin them anyway. My original plan was to get fake teeth once I was all healed and had a chance to save up for a set, but I found out I could do ok without teeth so I never got a set yet. My bf is ok with it, kinda likes it actually. Oh yeah, I live in the Appalachian Hills of eastern US.
Reply:My sister had most of her teeth removed by the time she was 40 cause she never brushed her teeth when we were younger.

I have two shaky teeth in the front of my mouth?

is it true that if i drink milk it will strengthen them. i am only 31 and i don't want to lose my teeth in the front of my mouth.

I have two shaky teeth in the front of my mouth?
oh no, i hope for the best of luck just see a dentist as fast as you can get in.....
Reply:no not true, you need to get to a dentist. sorry
Reply:the milk thing is BS, don't play with them and next time your at the dentist mention it and have them check them out
Reply:Drinking milk will strengthen your teeth, but it may be too late for those 2 teeth.
Reply:while drinking milk will help build stronger teeth WHILE YOU ARE YOUNG, you will not get those benefits later in life. The best you could do is to stay away from hard foods, and see a dentist to see if you can get a surgery to help secure your teeth more. Unfortunately, you have kind of run out of options to fix your teeth. The key is not to let it get to that level that quickly.
Reply:Go to yor dental surgeon to see how best to save them.

It is too late to drink milk now.
Reply:i had the same problem and went to see my dentist...i had cavities inside my teeth due to weak enamel from dirnking pop. I had to have them drilled and filled with a plastic material that looks like your natural tooth. They dentist told me to buy an Oral B electric toothbrush...not the Spinbrush. I bought mine for like $30. I use Arm %26amp; Hammer enamel care toothpaste that you can buy anywhere and a flouride mouth wash like ACT. I got a special toothpaste that is called Colgate Prevident 5000 which you can only get at the dentist that has 1.1% of flouride. You need to go to the dentist at 30 your bones are done growing and milk really isn't going to help but it won't make it worse. I am 24
Reply:go see your dentist

My puppy is loosing all her baby teeth....?

I have a 5 month old Pit Bull. She is loosing all her baby teeth. I have found a couple , but notice that her gums are bleeding alot ... Is there anything I can give her or put on her gums where she lost her teeth. She seems to be uncomfortable and they are always bleeding...

Thanks in advance !

My puppy is loosing all her baby teeth....?
When our Shiba was teething we found a cloth bone at the petstore called a Chill Bone. You soak it with water and freeze it then give it to the dog. She loved it because it helped to numb her gums. She also loved to chew on ice cubes (still does). We are using the Chill bones for our Rottweiler puppy too. We have two now, so one can be freezing while he is chewing on the other.
Reply:I would suggest that you call your vet and ask if there is anything that you can do to help keep her comfortable.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!
Reply:I would not ask this on here I would go to a doctor immeadeatly cause people be saying things just to be saying things on here. Please go to the vet. That is the best thing for your puppy right now. YOu are a great pet taker cause you are very concered about your puppy. Good luck and I hope yor puppy gets better. Also aChill Bone might help. You soak it with water and freeze it then give it to the dog. It helps numb the gums.
Reply:My Pup lost his teeth around 6 months as well, although his gums weren't bleeding a lot. I would call your vet and ask his or her advice.
Reply:Ice, or you can buy a small kong toy and freeze chicken broth inside and give it to her, but beware it's messy when it melts so give it in an area that you can clean easily.
Reply:This is pretty normal and the new teeth should fill in the gaps pretty soon. You can give her an old sock that is tied in knots, and then soaked in water and frozen to chew on. That helps with the pain and feels good in their mouths. Be sure to supervise your puppy with things like this, however.
Reply:Ice works, anything you put in her mouth will just get washed away by saliva.

Try wetting on of her toys and putting it in the freezer. It will numb her gums and help her feel better.

The bleeding will stop a few days after the tooth falls out. I have a 5 month old lab right now and he is loosing all his teeth.

Also, don't worry if the tooth breaks funny in his mouth. As long as the rest is pushed out by the time the big tooth completely grows in you have no worries.
Reply:I wouldn't really worry too much about it. She probably lost the tooth/teeth on a hard toy, or before the roots were fully dissolved. A dog's mouth/gums heal VERY quickly. We had a rather large growth taken off of our dog's gums, and the vet didn't even put stitches in because he said the gums would heal so quickly. I would just avoid toys that are too hard until she starts getting her big dog teeth in.

Reply:my mom used to keep ours and i found them one day when i was like ten and it totally grossed me out. she kept them in a little pink jar. i think i would keep there first one that they lost and put it his baby book other then that just throw them away.
Reply:Yes I have a daughter that is 15 I have all her baby teeth in a plastic baggie in a container I use just for the teeth. I also have my 13 year old daughters teeth as well. And when my son comes up I will have his! A little weird I know but I just can't help it!
Reply:yes, each of my kids have a little round tooth box that we keep their teeth in. the older ones think it's gross, but the younger ones are totally fascinated by it.
Reply:my mom kept mine...I thought it very cool and fun to look at them they were so tiny! this is when I was like 11 and things but I still think it would be cool I think my mom eventually lost mine :(
Reply:I kept my son's baby teeth. I put them in small plastic containers and labeled each one with the date lost and location in his mouth. He's 21 now and thinks it's cool that I still have his baby teeth. If nothing else keeping them gives you an instance dna source.
Reply:Creepy but still have them in a jar.
Reply:Well throw them away and leave money in his pillow (tooth fairy).
Reply:I do, I think that it would be nice to show them when they are older. You don't have to keep them all though, just one or two. Put them away in a tiny Manila envelope that is labeled.
Reply:I keep them but i'm not sure why. Maybe because my mom always kept mine. I don't know what I'll ever do with them. It's not like my son will grow up and one day ask for all of his teeth back. I guess it's kinda weird when you really think about it.
Reply:My mom kept ours. We would put them in little envelopes for the tooth fairy and my mom just kept them in the envelopes and stowed them in her dresser drawer.
Reply:the tooth fairy has my teeth
Reply:each of my children have an old ring box (from a jewelry store), that they keep their own teeth in. they want to do it and they asked soooo sweetly, i couldn't say no. they are 4 and 6 and have never believed in the tooth fairy or santa or the easter rabbit......i wonder why....?
Reply:I have 3 boys with twins on the way, so I am not going to keep every tooth, but with my 5 and 6 year old, who just lost teeth here recently, I kept the first one. I put it in a little snack sized zip lock bag and put their name on it. Then when they stop believing in the tooth fairy I will tape it in their baby books. I just throw away any after that.
Reply:Yes we kept our Children's baby teeth and didn't find it creepy at all. My wife kept their hospital bracelets, umbilical cord and for the boys some hair from the first haircut. Everything was kept in a keepsake box except for the teeth. To keep alive the illusion of the "Tooth Fairy' they had to be hidden away until the children out grew the notion.
Reply:I used a paper plate, drew a life sized face on it, and a huge smile with no teeth. As my kids teeth fell out, I would attach the teeth in the coordinating place on the smile. They can keep track of the teeth they have already lost as well as the ones they can look forward to attaching to the plate.

Some people may find it creepy, but I find it educational and fun.
Reply:My daughter only lost 2 so far but yes I kept them....I bought a lil tooth box and keep them there
Reply:I'm gonna keep my son's. I don't think that it is creepy. I'd keep his first wet diaper if it wouldn't stink and mold! lol...I'm gonna keep everything that I can!! I'm 5 months pregnant so i have a way to go, but I am looking forward to keeping things!

Why don't my teeth hrut?

I have lost two teeth in the past seven years. I had very bad cavities in both of them and never got them fixed. Both of them at seperate times had rotted out basically. It hapened over a years time. But why in none of that time did I ever feel pain? Shouldn't I have?

Why don't my teeth hrut?
Most people think that when you have a cavity you will know because it will hurt. Like your situation, it isn't always the case. Your cavity (decay) most likely caused the nerve of the tooth (the living part inside the tooth that feels sensation) to die and if the nerve of the tooth is dead then you cannot feel pain. Not being able to "feel" a cavity is exactly the reason we take cavity checking xrays ever 12-18 months so we can detect a cavity when it is small and fix it then so the tooth won't be lost....

Are ALL of my cats baby teeth supposed to fall out?

My cat recently lost one tooth about a week and a 1/2 ago and not she is loosing more. Is this normal? Are ALL of them supposed to fall out? She's around 4 Months old is this the normal age to be loosing her teeth?

Are ALL of my cats baby teeth supposed to fall out?
All their baby teeth should fall out to make way for the adult teeth, they won't ALL fall out at the same time, it will be gradual. She probably already lost some and you didn't notice. Every once in a while they will retain baby teeth and you will have a baby tooth and an adult side by side, more common in dogs though.
Reply:4 months old is normal age to start losing the baby teeth. Its just like with a human child, they come out one by one. But with animals, you won't always notice when they lose one. Many times it gets swallowed and you never see it. The canine teeth (the pointy ones) will sometimes be double for a bit. The adult tooth grows out while the baby tooth still hasn't fallen out quite yet. My youngest one did that and he looked like a shark for a little while. =)
Reply:um she shouldn't lose all her teeth at once....she should lose them in like a 2 year period of time
Reply:kitty's teeth are supposed to start falling out at about 4 months. but not all at once. it may take up to 1 1/2 years! my youngest cat started when he was 4 months and he is still losing them, maybe one a week and he is 9 months old. this is perfectly normal, but do expect them to start teething on you...ouch!!! good luck!! :)

What can I eat after 4 teeth pulled. Tired of pudding and soup!?

Due to an auto accident when I was a teen, I lost 7 teeth on the top. Now I am in the process of getting the rest of the top teeth pulled. I'd like to keep to a good diet, but limited to mostly liquids, I don't want to overboard on icecream and pudding! Any suggestions?

Get your blender out and you and make just about anything you want in it.
Reply:Try Ramen noodles..
Reply:jello,scrambled eggs...after cooling off for a bit..
Reply:fat free cream cheese and any of the following:

*smoked salmon

*canned chicken breasts

*canned tuna

*canned mackerel

Add some spices (like dill) and mix in the blender
Reply:If you like oatmeal.. it doesn't bother my 1 pulled tooth.

mabie you could try taco meat.
Reply:Sorbet, apple sauce or pasta may work.
Reply:yogurt, mashed potatoes, fruit smoothies, applesauce, (the flavored stuff can be super yummy), mashed sweet potatoes or carrots... or mashed potatoes and carrots together.. super yummy, sherbert and sorbet might be just different enough to not seem so much like ice cream, slices of processed cheese would probably be soft enough to chew... or even small pieces of bread. also, protien drinks might be a good idea to make sure you don't end up suffering vitamin deficiencies.

(That's it... I give up!)
Reply:mashed potato, jelly, those pasta and sauce packets
Reply:Time to use your imagination! Anything you can mash on the roof of your mouth with your tongue. Pasta is a good start along with most soups. Mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, applesauce, most casseroles as long as nothing crunchy or with seeds. After eating, rinse well with warm salt water or warmed Gatorade - keeping the area(s) clean is key.
Reply:Baby Food, sounds gross, but some of it can be actually very good.

Chili, before you cook it just mash it with a mashe potato masher, so all the beans are smushed.

Mashed potatoes.

Stuffing(YUM), you may have to mush this too.

Milkshakes and maybe try different types of ice cream.

Chow mein, top ramen noodles, or very soft rice. (If you have noodels, boil them a lot longer, so they will be softer)

Bread Pudding, a yumy dessert thats unlike any other pudding.

Mash bananas and mix with peanut butter and crushed graham crackers(its a healthier dessert)

Have more intresting soups, besides plain old chicken noodle, like french onion, or tortilla soup, or tomato soup and you could dip bread(but let the bread soak for a long time)

There are many soft foods out there, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of ideas from this forum. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:The following may sound a bit far out, but if you need variety try toddler baby food. It is very soft and nutritious.

What would happen if you hardly ever brushed your teeth?

I tend to forget to brush and don't think about it ever. I know this sounds gross, but I really don't brush nearly as much as everyone else does. My teeth just are naturally white and straight and I don't need braces and I've never had a cavity. I just don't brush my teeth. Could you get sick or lose your teeth or get an infection or something???

What would happen if you hardly ever brushed your teeth?
You're young and you're lucky. If you don't start taking care of your teeth you're going to end up losing them. But before you lose them, you're going to be in pain due to the infections and periodontal disease that you'll endure.

I need to get a deep teeth cleaning while having a minor heart condition?

My gums have been hurting and swollen lately, so I went to see a dentist, who told me that I have the big pockets (more 5mm) and I need to get a deep cleaning and more. However, I recently was told by my physician that I might have a minor heart murmur. So my dentist won't see me until I get a release from my physician/cordiologist. The problem is that my first appointment with a cardiologist is only next month and I am not sure how long it will take to get results about my heart murmur.

Should I try to get a form signed by my physician instead? She doesn't know much about my heart since it was discovered lately. Am I putting my heart in danger of getting some bacteria if I get this form signed without serious check-up and diagnoses of my heart? Or will this waiting for seeing a cardiologist first hurt my teeth? I don't want to increase my heart condition by using antibiotics at the dentist office but neither I want to lose my teeth by not treating them! Please help!!!!

I need to get a deep teeth cleaning while having a minor heart condition?
The reason that they want you to be released by a physician is because the 'deep cleaning' can potentially release bacteria into the blood stream and cause an infection on the heart valve(s) and lead to irreversible valve damage and the need to surgically replace it in the future or death.

In young women, it is not uncommon to have mitral valve prolapse. This can be verified by Echo which can be ordered by any physician but it is a cardiologist who is trained to interpret the image.

The dentist is covering his/her butt if there should be a problem in the future.

Ask the dentist while you're waiting if there is anything like a mouth rinse you can use while you're waiting,in combination with daily flossing.

I was able to decrease my pockets from 4/5 to 3s with just flossing a mouth rinses.
Reply:WELL SWEETIE, I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SAME THING WHEN I HAVE DENTAL WORK DONE.. IF I WERE U, I WOULD CALL UR FAMILY DOCTOR AND TELL HIM ABOUT UR TEETH CONDITION, ALMOST ALL DOCTORS WILL CALL U IN SOME ATTIBIOTICS,, I AM SUPRISED UR DENTIST DIDNT,,,,GOOD LUCK
Reply:As a previous responder said, the chief danger is bacterial endocarditis, bacterial growth on the heart valves. There are several standard prophylactic antibiotic protocols to prevent this. Perhaps your doctor would be willing to prescribe one of these antibiotics to take about an hour before cleaning. Some protocols call for taking a second dose after the dental visit, too.
Reply:Your dentist is overreacting. All you need is a prophilactic course of ABx prior to and after the proceedure. When teeth are cleaned you risk bacteria entering the blood stream. If you have a murmur, the blood can not get flushed through your heart completely and you risk getting endocarditis. Antibiotics are taken to prevent this. That's all you need and your dentist should be able to prescribe it. I think I'd find a new dentist.
Reply:Heart murmur can be a sign of many heart diseases.

Before any invasive procedure such as dental care, people with valvular heart diseases need to to prophylatic (preventing) antibiotic because of high risk for developing infectious endocarditis, a life threatening infection that is caused by the trapped bateria attaching to your heart valves. These bacteria will damage your heart certainly, and with each heart beat, there's risk that the bacteria will be transported to throoughout your body, causing whatever damage that it will do.

To my belief, I dont suggest you go to have your teeth done.

One recommendation is talking to your doctor and tell him about your heart murmur and your needed dental procedure and if antibiotic should be used before to prevent "Infectious Endocarditis". Every doctor should know this prophylatic antibiotic before dental procedure with people with heart infection like that. Talk to him about those 2 concerns.
Reply:You won't risk your heart condition by using antibiotics. These are important to take if you have a heart condition and need this type of dental trearment as it helps prevent bacteria going to the heart. You will need to speak with your cardiologist as I know it is a problem with my son as he has a conduit and the bacteria tends to go to foreign objects in the body. I don't think murmers are a problem as they don't have a foreign object inserted. I have a heart murmer and have not had to have antibiotics. It is always best to check and be sure. It is too late once the infection has occured. Better to be safe than sorry.

I need to get a deep teeth cleaning while having a minor heart condition?
My daughter has had a V murmur since birth. She's an adult now and has had her teeth cleaned twice yearly since the age of 4. Ask for an antibiotic to be prescribed and take it 4 hours before your scheduled cleaning.

You'll be fine.

Keep that Cardio appt. You'll be relieved to know how functioning most murmurs really are.
Reply:The best thing to do is ask your Dr and he/she will be able to tell you the best course of action to take. Depending on how bad the cleaning is you might have to go on antibiotics. Don't take any chances.
Reply:They used to want to put you on antibiotics in advance just in case. It doesn't seem to be as big a deal now as it was a few year ago. Call your cardiologist and explain the situation; it shouldn't require an office visit
Reply:A heart murmur is a common thing. Your dentist is correct in that cleaning teeth does release a lot of bacteria into the blood stream and the dentist does not want bacteria landing and growing on your heart. You will want to talk to your regular doctor, he/she will likely give you an antibiotic to take shortly prior to you teeth getting cleaned. This is a standard procedure to anyone who has a heart issue.
Reply:In April of this year, the American Heart Association recommended a stop to the practice of using preventative antibiotics prior to dental treatment in all but a few cases. This is a drastic change from the past, and many health care providers are either unaware of it, or are being overly cautious about discontinuing a practice they have done for many years.

Please read the link, print it out, and take it to your dentist or physician. You may not need to take antibiotics after all. ONLY your doctor can make that determination, however, and I'm NOT a doctor.

This is a highlight from the AHA article:

The current practice of giving patients antibiotics prior to a dental procedure is no longer recommended EXCEPT for patients with the highest risk of adverse outcomes resulting from BE (see below on this card). The Committee cannot exclude the possibility that an exceedingly small number of cases, if any, of BE may be prevented by antibiotic prophylaxis prior to a dental procedure. If such benefit from prophylaxis exists, it should be reserved ONLY for those patients listed below. The Committee recognizes the importance of good oral and dental health and regular visits to the dentist for patients at risk of BE.

Added: I think you should either call or visit your dentist and ask him to read the AHA article. There was a summary of it in JADA, the dental journal. It is possible you don't NEED to premedicate if all you have is a past heart murmur.
Reply:1. Listen to the Deborah Ray Show (www.HealthyTalkRadio.com). She has an excellent alternative dentist on once per week. (Dr. Koulacz). Dr Koulacz teaches that mouth germs cause heart disease.

2. Blend up a bulb of garlic with water and vitamin C. This is the 'mother of all mouthwash'.

After a few days there will be no germs left anywhere in your mouth.

Drink this for a few days and ditto for the entire body.

A bonus is that your energy level will increase dramatically as the germs die.

Little dog's teeth?

how old are little dogs when they lose their teeth. What do they need? Does it hurt them?

Little dog's teeth?
They lose the teeth from about 4-6 months they can start loosing them. It doesnt hurt them. Just be sure to get lots of chew toys for the puppy so that he/she doesnt chew on the furniture or shoes etc. When my puppy was teething we bought her a chew toy or 2 everytime we went to the store and she never chewed on anything except her toys. The key is to give your beloved pet lots of chew toys. You most likely wont find any of the teeth. It does hurt them so dont worry and happy teething!

I wish you and your puppy the best!
Reply:I'm not sure, but I think 4 months. My puppy lost a tooth at 4 months, but I only found 1, so I'm not sure if they all fall out, or even if all of his have fallen out, and I didn't notice. I only noticed the one I did, because I stepped on it, and it hurt really bad. But when I checked his mouth, a new one was already almost fully grown in it's place.
Reply:BETWEEN 4-6 MONTHS . PLAY A LOT OF "TUG OF WAR" WITH A TERRY TOWEL. THAT WILL HELP LOOSE ONES POP OUT. ALSO HAVE A LOT OF CHEW TOYS , STUFFED TOYS, PIG EARS ARE GREAT. ALL THIS WILL HELP.
Reply:4 months is common age for tooth loss in dogs. I would not suggest tug of war with a puppy at this age! It could dislodge the new adult teeth as they are growing in. . .they take a while to 'set' in the jaw.
Reply:I own small breed dogs and usually it takes about 6-7months for their baby teeth to fall out. During this time if would be great if you can provide your pup with chewing toys, greenies (dental treats), and raw hides. Also, you want to be sure to keep an eye on their teeth. The problem I have with my chihuahua is that his baby teeth were wiggling but his new set of teeth popped in! So now he has two rows of teeth! Worse part is his baby teeth are slowly rotting because it won't fall out. The vet advise us to wiggle it for him everyday and hopeful it will loosen up and eventually fall out. But because of this, not only his breathe stinks! But we might have to get him in the vet and surgically remove it which will cost us a bit there.

Well, different dog breeds are different. But just keep an eye on the lil runt... you don't want any difficulties in the long run and definitely you don't want to pay for surgery if its not necessary. Provide lots of raw hides, I hear that it will do the trick for your pup. Good luck!
Reply:my chihuahua was about 5-6months when he began to shed his baby teeth. they just need some nice safe chew toys and kibble to help through this chewing phase. while playing "tug" is fun, you wouldnt want to yank out one of puppys teeth. im sure they feel pain like us. sometimes you will notice they've spit out a tooth, other times i think they may swallow them while eating but you need to check them especially in toy dogs. sometimes they retain their puppy teeth and your vet has to pull them out under anesthesia. leaving them in will cause pain and future problems for your dog. my chi had double rows of teeth so i know about the retained teeth. good luck to you and your puppy!! i am a bit leary about the "greenies" and the raw hides. i know a few dogs that got pieces lodged in their little throats-not a pretty sight. i dont think i'd try and wiggle out a tooth--extraction at the vets is best--and price doesnt matter when you want the best for your beloved pet. afterall, pet care is part of the responsibility of owning a pet.
Reply:Usually the average is 6 months. Give the pup things to chew on so the teeth will come out. Small breeds are very prone to retained baby teeth and then the teeth have to be removed by the vet or food can build up between the baby and the adult tooth.

It is like us losing baby theeth. It does not really hurt them any more than it hurt us.
Reply:They should start to to get their adult teeth at about 4 months old.Try giving a few ice cubes for it to chew that will help to ease the pain; thats why they chew.

Are puppy's teeth supposed to fall out?

my dog is like 5 months and she has lost 2 teeth that i know about... is it normal or no?

Are puppy's teeth supposed to fall out?
Well, puppy teeth are called "milk" teeth; I don't know why because they are like needles and I don't know how the mother can stand it, but I believe they do come out and the permanent teeth come in. Although I have to admit I have never found any of these milk teeth lost by puppies that I have lived with, so I don't know where they go. Also, I never noticed any gaps like you apparently have; just noticed when their teeth were bigger and not as sharp. I guess that's why puppies chew up everything they can get, like a teething baby.
Reply:Yes. Puppies lose their baby teeth, just like people do.
Reply:Absolutely normal. They teeth, lose baby teeth, and grow new ones like humans do. Keep plenty of bones and chew toys around the house, especially ones that you can put in the fridge or freezer. (There are cloth bones that you can wet and stick in the freezer--it will keep swelling and pain down! Check your pet store for these.)
Reply:Yah puppies start teething and biting everything, and then they lose their teeth and they are all bettter,
Reply:Puppies lose teeth just like human beings do. Just as long as your dog is a puppy.
Reply:yes a puppy will lose it's teeth just like we do. It won't take them but a few days to grow new ones. I did not find this out untill about a month ago when my 5 month old bulldog started losing her teeth and they grew back thicker.
Reply:Your puppy will lose ALL of its teeth, Einstein.
Reply:yes puppy lose teeth
Reply:Normal ...........my dogs name is Chulo.
Reply:yes it is thats why your not to play tugawar with pull toys with your puppy they will come out too soon now don't forget the tooth fairy a milk bone is the going rate
Reply:I'm pretty sure all mammals go through a set of baby teeth and then they get adult teeth. I know for sure that dogs, cats, horses, and of course people do.

Losing her teeth has nothing to do with biting people. That's an extremely bad and dangerous habit for a dog to get into. Take your pup to obedience school, or ask your vet how to get her to stop biting.
Reply:they lose teeth just like kids and they theethe like babies too we have a teething baby and dog, petco probably has them.
Reply:Yes, it is normal.

"Just like humans, puppies are born without any teeth. A dog's 28 baby teeth start to erupt during the first few weeks of life. Then, between four and six months, the baby teeth fall out and are replaced by adult teeth. Most dogs have 42 teeth! Humans only have 32 adult teeth.

Teething is often a painful experience for puppies, causing them to chew on anything they can get. Your veterinarian can dispense gum soothing pet gels and chewable treats that can be frozen to sooth aching gums."

My dogs both had all their adult teeth by about 7.5 months. One of them developed nasty breath when she was teething, the other did not. I checked with a vet, and the breath was normal too. Make sure you give her nice soft toys to chew on. My puppies loved their puppy teething kong at this stage.

By the way, the biting is a natural part of puppy development, as puppies (much like children) explore the world through their mouths. If it appears to be an aggressive biting, it may be a concern, otherwise, just be firm about "play-biting" as it is important to teach your dog what is/is not acceptable.

Good luck!! See your vet if there are any problems.
Reply:It's perfectly normal for puppies to lose their baby teeth. If you're lucky, you might even find one or two to keep in a scrapbook.

Dogs have 28 deciduous (temporary) teeth and 42 permanent teeth. Puppies have no teeth at birth, and grow deciduous teeth beginning their second week of life.

At three months of age, the deciduous teeth begin to be replaced by the permanent teeth. The replacement process begins with the incisors, and moves backwards through the canines, premolars and finally the molars.

The turnover process is usually complete by the time the dog is eight months old, with none of the original 28 deciduous teeth remaining. Most deciduous teeth are swallowed with food and never seen by the pet owner

. Occasionally a deciduous tooth is merely pushed to the side and retained next to the permanent tooth. Retained deciduous teeth can be removed by a veterinarian.

The incisors turn over from deciduous to permanent from two to four months of age. The canines usually convert around six months of age. The premolars and molars follow in that order, with the last permanent molar erupting around eight months of age.

The exact schedule does vary from breed to breed.
Reply:yes this is normal just like children they have baby teeth she may want to chew a lot until the adult teeth come in
Reply:yes they are and if they don't they have to be pulled to make room for their adult teeth... just like kids. Also make sure your pup has a lot of things that look like bones /..keeps them from chewing on your shoes, cords etc.....archie
Reply:Yes, its normal. They loose their baby teeth just like humans.
Reply:It's perfectly normal! Your puppy is going through the teething stage. They lose their baby teeth and the permanent ones come in. It's nothing to worry about.
Reply:Yes I used to find little teeth lay in the carpet from my border collie puppy

Pushing Teeth Back Into Place...Good Or Bad?

I'm a teenager (still a growing boy), and I had braces for two and a half years. My teeth had been quite bad before I had braces, and my braces had to be very tight to get my teeth nice and straight. I've had them off for almost two years now, and lately I've noticed that they're kinda going back to their old position...my teeth are losing their perfect straightness.

My orthodontist has told me that I don't need to wear my retainer anymore, but I still do because I'm afraid that if I don't, my teeth will go back faster. I think that I'm still growing, and without the braces to hold my teeth, they're naturally going back.

I obsess constantly about it, even if other people tell me they don't really notice that my teeth have changed. I now tend to put pressure with my fingers on the teeth to "push" them back into place, sort of what braces would do. I do this very often.

Now my question is, does constantly pushing my teeth make it go worse, or keep it from getting worse?

Pushing Teeth Back Into Place...Good Or Bad?
Constant finger pressure if it is going to be effective needs tobe nonstop for min 8 hours, so what you are doing isnt helping at all unless you have the time to do it for 8 hours which i doubt. But with this pressure, you are going to make things worse, you may push your tooth off line as your force is not controlled in direction and magnitude. You rather wear your retainers full time, if they feel tight it means your teeth moved, if they feel loose and your teeth have moved then they may have distorted and hence your teeth moved. Either way do back to your orthy and request that you want the teeth that have moved out of line to be made straight.
Reply:Tell your orthodontist and he will look at it. I don't think it's good idea to do that though.
Reply:If you push your teeth long enough and hard enough...you can actually start to move them yourself. After you get your braces off, there generally is some movement in the teeth, but it is usually pretty mild. In fact, your lower jaw will grow throughout your life and eventually your lower bottom teeth will crowd somewhat. It happens to everyone...but it takes many years. Wearing your retainer while you sleep will limit any shifting, but isn't bulletproof.
Reply:if you keep pushing your teeth back like that..they going to become loose and your dentist wont be able to do anything..but just remove your own loose teeth and give you partials..or maybe even dentures...yes at a young age. so stop and leave your teeth alone.
Reply:well i think it very doubtfull your thunb will do anything. It is unfortunate that you do this howevere probably looks silly. If you think your teeth are moving and you don't have faith in your dentist saying a retainer is not needed. Get a secound opinion, don't look like a fool for no good reason...Lets
Reply:Actually it doesnt help or rather worsen the situation.

In order to keep ur teeth in position, just kepp on wearing the retainer, its work!
Reply:good get the girls got to have straight teeth
Reply:Wear your retainer. What you are doing by pushing your teeth and thinking about it so often might be the beginning of obsessing over your teeth. And that is not dental, it's psychological.

Just to be on the safe side, you can go to a different orthodontist and let them see if the other orthodontist did the right thing.

What do you do with your kids teeth?

Sounds like a dumb question I know but my almost six year old has lost four teeth, the tooth fairy has them stored away but really, do I have to keep them all?? What do you do with them?

I'm thinking to keep just the first one, stick it in her baby box but come on, 18 teeth???

What do you do with your kids teeth?
I made a necklace that I wear around my neck. I have three kids, so its pretty cool now. Nobody asks about it, they just stare.
Reply:Thanks for the BA. Glad I could make you smile. Report It

Reply:I would probably keep the first, but not all.

My son's still a baby and growing his teeth though.
Reply:I tried to keep them, but lost them all. I have 3 kids and no teeth. LOL
Reply:personally i have no strong urge to look at my own baby teeth when looking through my baby stuff ... do you?

i throw them out.

yuck.

:-)
Reply:Keep the first tooth. But keep it in a clean box or plastic bag.

There's really no need for the others. After a while it will become kinnda gross, expeically if the teeth start to decay.
Reply:I have 2 kids and I have the 1st tooth they each lost. I put change under their pillows and get rid of the rest. I tell them the tooth fairy keeps their teeth in exchange for money. Bad idea!!!!! My daughter now tries to loosen her other teeth that are not ready to come out!!
Reply:My mom had a special container we would put our teeth in after the tooth fairy gave us money. I kept mine forever and probably still have some stored away in a box somewhere in my garage. It wasn't hard to do. She kept the little case with my teeth in her jewelry drawer so we always knew where it was.
Reply:my mom kept my first one and my last one and the one i had to get pulled (molar got split in half when bitting into an apple. half came out)
Reply:Throw them in the garbage or save them for experiments that they get from their school like the one about "How soda damages your teeth"?
Reply:I think my parents just chucked them
Reply:Throw them away....
Reply:Thread it through a nylon necklace, they are virtually invisible when wearing them, give it to them when they are older. A great conversation piece .

Dreaming about teeth?

I had a dream about biting down too hard (I wasn't eating anything) so I lost 5 teeth and the blood tasted so real. Could this dream mean anything?

Dreaming about teeth?
According to my dream dictionary, losing teeth means financial difficulties. As for the blood, it translates to 'Avoid controversy with friends and family."So I guess, in the big picture, be careful who you loan money to for a while.
Reply:lmfao that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Report It

Reply:Loosing teeth in a dream is a sign about financial trouble to come.
Reply:I think it's telling you to take better care of your teeth !
Reply:An ordinary dream of teeth augurs an unpleasant contact with sickness, or disquieting people.

If you dream your teeth are loose, there will be failures and gloomy tidings.

If the doctor pulls your tooth, you will have desperate illness, if not fatal: it will be lingering.

To have them filled, you will recover lost valuables after much uneasiness.

To clean or wash your teeth, foretells that some great struggle will be demanded of you in order to preserve your fortune.

To dream that you are having a set of teeth made, denotes that severe crosses will fall upon you, and you will strive to throw them aside.

If you lose your teeth, you will have burdens which will crush your pride and demolish your affairs.

For one tooth to fall out, foretells disagreeable news: if two, it denotes unhappy states that the dreamer will be plunged into from no carelessness on his part. If three fall out, sickness and accidents of a very serious nature will follow.

There are many more in this book of dreams. But I think this should cover what you are looking for.

Do kittens teeth?

What age do kittens lose them teeth. Mine is 8mo and has to bite everything.

Do kittens teeth?
Oh yeah they teethe. But by 8 months old, it should have all its adult teeth by now. So my guess is that she is doing the typical baby thing and has to taste everything. If she is biting you (I assume its a she, if not, Im sorry), then that is a habbit you need to break fast. If she isnt, then I wouldnt worry much. So long as she isnt swallowing anything bad, then she will be just fine and will eventually grow out of it.
Reply:Take her to the vet for a checkup, this is the usual age they are taken in to have their teeth checked to make sure all their deciduous (milk or baby teeth) have come out. Sometimes they get stuck and have to be removed by the vet because they rot very quickly and can rot the adult teeth underneath and also become infected and cause blood poisoning. The deciduous teeth are generally shed at aroun 4-6 months.

She might also have something caught in her mouth somewhere.
Reply:my kitten is 6 months old and we recently found out that he's losing his. We think he has all his adult teeth now as he doesn't show any signs of paid when biting on things, there are no lose teeth, there is no gum redness and he's been like that for afew weeks. We only realised that he was losing them when one came out on my hand when i was playing with him one day. From what i've read, cats can lose their teeth any time from 4 months to 1 year.

Wouldn't it be great if we got a 3rd set of teeth?

Wouldn't it be great if we got a third set of teeth? If we lost our teeth again when we're 20-30 and got new teeth again? It's not impossible, it has happened to adults, but very very few. My dentist said that it's because people used to die in their 40's and 50's. But now that people live well into their 80's, shouldn't our bodies evolve and give us another set of teeth? I didn't really realize when I was younger that these are the teeth I'm going to have for the rest of my life. It wouldn't be that weird to be missing a tooth in your 20's if it happened to everyone.

Wouldn't it be great if we got a 3rd set of teeth?
Why just a third, i'd put up with the pain of them cutting through gums to have new teeth whenever they were needed throughout my life.
Reply:yes that would be great
Reply:Do you think the tooth fairy would still visit us when we lost our second set of teeth? Now that would be cool.
Reply:It would be cool, i could have used the tooth fairy when i was in college!
Reply:i think god just said. "dude that's wierd. i could leave you all with your baby teeth for life. be grateful for what you get"
Reply:I am 12 and i have some of my first lot of teeth still, most of them are my second lot and a few are 3rd lots. It is possible but not to all. You also might get them if you have your wisdom teeth.
Reply:Yes, that would be great. Of course in this day and age a lot of people buy a third set (dentures), so they are set for life.
Reply:Or maybe we could just take better care of the teeth we already have.
Reply:It would be great, but I'd rather see replacements about age 30 when you've learned to take care of teeth yourself and hopefully have the money yourself for proper care. It's a real drain on parents with multiple kids to get them all braces. Much better for the final set of teeth to be paid for by the one whose gonna use them.
Reply:its a great idea..wish we could get more
Reply:Sure would! Of course many people have a third set.....They're called dentures. Oh well, such is life.
Reply:My mom's cousin had three sets of teeth. It was really weird and the family still ridicules him about it.
Reply:Gosh! That will be so cool! I mean I will definitely learn to be more appreciative of my 3rd set of teeth!
Reply:actually i have a friend that has a 3rd set of teeth. i thought it was pretty weird. good thing that there r pretty good doctors out there that can replace missing teetth n make them look very natural.

EVEN THOUGH HUMANS ONLY HAVE 2 SETS OF THROUGHOUT LIFE, A RUSSIAN GENETICIST FOUND THAT THE HUMAN GENOME HAS A THIRD SET OF TEETH.

UNFORTUNATELY, WE'D NEVER SEE THIS HAPPEN.

The image issue; during the time, people used to worship images of idols. ie. pagan worship. So this is the reason for the Prohibition. Just for the record the Prophet Muhammad (may God bless him and sent him peace) is the beautiful thing in creation.

Nuff said!

Is there some way of getting dentures if you don't have teeth to make the mold for them?

My mother (50 years old) lost her teeth over the period of her life. As such, there's no possible way for her to have kept all of her teeth as they fell out. As of now, she has no teeth left, and she badly wants to get dentures. The dentist she went to said he can't make dentures for her since there's no teeth to make the mold for her mouth.

What I want to know is, is there -some- way of fitting dentures to her mouth that doesn't involve the original teeth? She's becoming increasingly depressed because she can't eat even the softest foods because she has no teeth to chew.

Is there some way of getting dentures if you don't have teeth to make the mold for them?
All they really need are the molds for her gums.

They can make teeth with perfect shape and bite.

How would this dentist explain replacing a lost tooth?

Find another dentist - Also look into dental implants.
Reply:Dentist don't need mold of original teeth to make dentures!! I don't know what kind of dentist she went to, but all the dentist really need is the person to take a mold of her gums. The dentures are fitting on the upper palate and the lower ridge of the gum. Technicians use plastic teeth to attach to the rest of the denture.

Find another dentist, that is all.
Reply:Your dentist must have failed his/her denture course. Designing dentures for people with no existing teeth is a science which can be applied with great success. Such things as the proper length of the chewing muscles, support of the lips and the shape of the face are all taken into account when designing the dentures.

By all means find a dentist who feels comfortable in making dentures for your mother. The dentures, when properly made, will give her better nutrition and a really better outlook on life.
Reply:the dentist lied.

You dont need teeth for the molds - only the mold of her gums. The teeth they can make to look perfect.

My mother lost her teeth early in life (before she was 30 anyway because she's had them for as long as I can remember) and now she's 70+ and they still look perfect. she only puts them in water when she sleeps.

Also I once told a dentist that I wanted all my teeth pulled as well, so I could have dentures like my mother. She told me that when you have dentures, apparently you lose some of the taste and texture of the food you are chewing. Looking back now, I realise that the tongue has the taste buds, not the teeth, so I think she lied to me as well.
Reply:Sorry you must have misunderstood. No problem at all, will just need to wax up %26amp; try in before processing denture. Have done it thousands of times!! Doc W
Reply:As others have stated- a dentist can fit dentures for someone who has not teeth quite easily. They may not look like the patients own teeth did but can be made quite life like. If she has any photos of when she had teeth they can get a general feel for the shape of those original teeth.

If she is totally without teeth right now they will be able to design and construct dentures that have the teeth set in wax so she can try them in to see what she will look like and with input from her and maybe you- they can adjusted to look pretty much however she wants.

The best thing would be if she knows someone who wears dentures and ask them who they use- word of mouth is always a good place to start looking for dentures- a satisfied denture wearer would be good advertising.
Reply:She needs to see another dentist...

Preliminary impressions are taken on edentulous (without teeth) patients all of the time! The impression is then 'poured up' in stone to make a model of what Mom looks like, and a custom tray is made, similar to the tray that was used for the first impression.. then another impression (final) is taken, which is more accurate. Back to the lab it goes, and then Mom goes back to the dentist for a 'bite registration' appointment. Measurements are taken, and a shade (color of teeth on denture) is chosen. Back to the lab it goes, and then her next visit would be for a 'try-in'... the denture is in a 'wax' stage.. this is where Mom can make changes, either with the shade or the bite..... and then... back to the lab it goes for the 'finish' (if the try-in' stage was ok)... she'd get her new denture at her next visit..

Sore spots may develop since her mouth needs to get used to the new 'tenant', but that's normal, and it only takes a few minutes to take care of this.

Best wishes to your Mom, and let her know she'll be able to smile and eat again!

My son has fractured his two front teeth and they say that they should be removed ne1know ne thing about this?

If there is a dentist out there that knows about baby teeth. I really don't want him to lose his teeth but they ae fractured all the way across under the gum. They say it could get infected and that they should be removed. If you know anything about this please write me back. I want to save his teeth if it is at all possible.

My son has fractured his two front teeth and they say that they should be removed ne1know ne thing about this?
I am in my last year of dental school. Since he is 4 (read the other post) and you want to save his teeth, there is hope. But go to a dentist, now! The longer you take the worse. He needs to take X-rays and keep an eye on how things are progressing. The dentin and the pulp (nerve) can help repair the fracture (is it vertical or horizontal?) so you want to aviod getting a root canal done, leave it as a last resort, you can get a prescription for antibiotics.

Are his teeth lined up exactly the way they first were? You will need to ask him, you might not be able to tell. Your dentist will put a splint on his teeth (they will look like braces, but tooth colored) to keep them from moving and help the reparation process.

They are baby teeth, his permanent front teeth will grow in on average at about age 7, so it's understandable that you want him to have his teeth. Besides that, if there ae no teeth there, other teeth will try to migrate to that spot and cause problems when he is older.

But go now!
Reply:I think you sh ould at leat get a second opinion
Reply:It is best to get the teeths removed %26amp; get the fixed teeths implanted.
Reply:take them out! you dont want to get into root canals and gum infections/diseases, they can be very painful and discourage eating. they are just baby teeth as well, before you know it they will be falling out.
Reply:I hate to tell you this but the teeth once broken won't heal they are baby teeth and will grow back in. You have to consider that an infection could develop and when not taken care of the reason for the infection it will continue. He will be just fine without those teeth but will not be if he takes so many antibiotics that his body gets immune.
Reply:If they are truly his deciduous teeth ,then extraction is the most practical option since root canals would not be practical. If they were permanent teeth then endodontics followed by post and crown would give a good result .
Reply:I am NOT a dentist, but my nephew fell when he was 3 and hit his two front teeth. My sister never took him to the dentist until both teeth had turned black. I would suggest that you take their advice, or have a second opinion. A couple of missing teeth is more appealing than black rotted ones!! I wish you well!! (and your baby)
Reply:First and foremost - GET A SECOND OPINION! My daughter fell when she was 2 and hit her teeth on the bleachers at a ball park. About two years later, we switched dentists and took her to a pediatric dentist who saw that there was trauma to the roots of her teeth, and they needed to be removed immediately and replaced with a partial. I was hysterical and took her to our family dentist that I saw when I was younger. He said they should not be removed....they will fall out when they are ready, She is now 6-1/2 and they are starting to get loose, right on schedule. While your circumstance may not be the same in the end, it is proof that a second opinion should always be sought!
Reply:You did not give your son's age, so it's a little hard to comment.

Your dentist is probably giving you good advice. If they are primary teeth, they need to be removed. A space maintainer can be placed to hold position until the permenant teeth come in.

An infection could result if the teeth are not treated. If you get a second opinion, do it soon. Also understand, your insurance may not pay for another exam and more x-rays, so be prepared to pay for the second visit.
Reply:I know this may seem scary, but I would recommend consulting a good pediatric dental surgeon. My daughter just finished with one. She had multiple things fixed at one time, when she was 4, by placing her under anesthesia. A good website to check is www.childrens-dentist.com, or if you are in PA, you could contact Dr. David Laughlin @ (717)741-0848. Good luck to you.
Reply:Get them taken out, his health is more important than his looks. He will start getting new teeth around the age of 5ish
Reply:My answer assumes that this is a 4 year old as stated in your other post.It is not clear what you mean by fractured all the way across under the gum. If you mean that the root is fractured it depends on the rest of the tooth. If the crown is displaced and the root is fractured it probably should be removed, but the dentist will probably not be able to remove the tip of the root. The root tip could become infected, but will probably resorb on it's own. If the crown is not displaced it might be best to leave it alone and "take a chance". The worst that could happen is that it will become infected and need to be removed. If the fracture is not in the root, a baby tooth root canal could be attempted to save the tooth. Finally, if the fracture is complicated the tooth might need to be removed regardless of where the fracture is. If you obtain a second opinion go to a pediatric dentist, they receive extra training regarding cases such as this.
