Am I worrying too much about my teeth?

I'm only 18 years old and all that I think about day and night is the thought of losing my teeth. I noticed that they move very slightly when I apply pressure but i've heard that all teeth have a little movement. I was at the dentist recently and he said my gums are inflamed so I guess it means I have gingivitis. He took x-rays and examined them and didn't say I had anything serious or that my teeth are loose. Yet I constantly worry about it, probably bc i didnt take good care of my teeth when I was younger. If I go to the dentist every 6 months and brush/floss and eat well, will I be able to keep all of my teeth. I'm so worried bc im gonna be in college next year and I dont want to be rejected by girls just because im missing my teeth. Are my worries legitimate or am I worried too much. Its always in the back of my mind. I feel like my future is tainted and that I wont be able to enjoy life because of my teeth.

Am I worrying too much about my teeth?
well everybody's teeth normally move, and sometimes it can feel like they're moving too much, but it's normal. As for the gingivitis, you can buy special toothpaste that corrects and prevents gingivitis and strengthens teeth and any drug store. Just keep taking care of your teeth. It is highly improbably that your teeth will actually fall out, that usually only happens if they are decaying. It doesn't sound like you have any problems with decay, so keep brushing and flossing and you'll keep those teeth!

If you are still not convinced, and really think your teeth are going to fall out, discuss it with your dentist. They also make retainers with fake teeth in them, so if you by some extremely odd circumstance do have some teeth fall out, a retainer with fake teeth will make in unnoticeable. Good Luck!
Reply:omg i got to the um... second line. and all of a sudden i didn't know what language you were speaking. Is this normal?
Reply:sounds to me like ur taking good care of ur teeth. i dont think u can ever care for them too much.
Reply:your worried too much. no1 at ur age will lose their teeth this early. give it at least 10 more years. that means you got a lot of time to correct your teeth before then.
Reply:Don't worry bud....i think like that sumetimes...but its just ur imagination going wild....but if u take gud care of ur teeth by doing the basics.

One last thing, don't use any toothpaste with "phosphoric acid", thats the same stuff in coke that eat away at ur bones....just like it does that sum toothpaste have that and it slowlies eat away at ur teeth.

((ease on ur sweet tooth))
Reply:THIS WORRY IS FOR NOTHING. IF YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR TEETH AND VISIT THE DENTIST REGULARLY...NO WORRIES.
Reply:i would not lose my teethe. how can i?

if i eat a lot of sugar and candy, then i might lose it.

its called "wear and tear"
Reply:Make sure you take good care of your teeth now and you will still have many more years with your teeth. If you have gingivitis use a mouthwash such as listerine, make sure you are getting enough flouride to keep your teeth strong (another mouthwash or drink water that has flouride added, I know it is in tap water in Adelaide AUS). if your teeth do fall out you can still get fake ones that are attached to you gums and no one will ever know unless you tell them.

Other than that if your dentist says your OK, listen to him. Teeth are all about preventative maintenance

Enjoy them while you are young and still have them, we will most probably all loose our teeth when we are old and grey
Reply:Make sure you keep up with your regular dental appointments. You should go in every six months for a cleaning and checkup. Also, keep up with the regular brushing and flossing. If you do these things you should be a-okay!

If you are worried about the movement in your teeth, give your dentist a call and inquire. It doesn't hurt to consult a professional. They should be happy to answer your question and let you know if you should be seen or not.

Have you seen pictures of Periodontal Disease? If that doesn't make you want to take care of your teeth nothing will! And it doesn't just happen to older people. I know of a 24 yr. old who will be losing two of her front teeth due to this disease. Proper care will help prevent this.

Keep up the good work and try not to worry too much!
