Have you ever dreamed about your teeth falling out?

Once? Or recurrently? Do you have any feeling for what it means and what causes this dream to occur? Is it an actual fear of losing your teeth?

Have you ever dreamed about your teeth falling out?
I have issues with my teeth not processing flouride right so they're weaker than they should be. I'm also afraid of dentists and needles... I've had recurring dreams about my teeth falling out all at once like I just keep spitting them out a few at a time. I think for me it really is a fear of losing my teeth.
Reply:i had a dream once. right when i got my braces on. it was like 4 years ago. i don't know what it means, but i am pretty sure it is not actual fear of losing you teeth.
Reply:ohhh thats happen to me before, and like you take your tounge and rub it over and they are missing, then i wake up and freak out, im not really sure what it is, but if you find out please tell me, maybe its a fear of the dentist?

Reply:Hello! I've found this website to be very helpful with dream interpretation. According to this site, teeth are a common dream of one sort or another. Hopefully, you can get some insight from what they say:

"My Teeth Are Falling"

Dreams that your teeth are falling out are the most common dreams we here at Dream Moods receive. Common dream scenarios include having your teeth crumbling in your hands or your teeth falling out one by one with just a light tap. Such dreams are not only horrifying and shocking, but often leaves the dreamer with a lasting image of the dream. So what does it mean?

One theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Sadly, we live in a world where good looks are valued highly and your teeth play an important role in conveying that image. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others. Everybody worries about how they appear to others. Caring about our appearance is natural and healthy.

Another rationalization for these falling teeth dream may be rooted in your fear of being embarrassed or making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. These dreams are an over-exaggeration of your worries and anxiety.

Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion.

In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine.

Traditionally, it was thought that dreaming that you did not have teeth, represent malnutrition which may be applicable to some dreamers.

Other Perspectives

A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God. The bible says that God speaks once, yea twice in a dream or a vision in order to hide pride from us, to keep us back from the pit, to open our ears (spiritually) and to instruct and correct us.

In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies.

It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you money.
Reply:Yes, I've had that reoccurring dream. I've also had it where pieces of my teeth are in a piece of gum that I'm chewing. I grind my teeth severely, while sleeping, and one morning I looked in the mirror and about a third of my front incisor was missing. That was a little traumatic!
Reply:No, I have not. But dream of losing teeth or teeth falling out often means losing control.

You probably are nervous or stressed about something and that is why you have that kind of dream.
Reply:Yes actually I dream about it often. I guess I always thought it was because I use to work in a dentist office- I had a fear that something terrible was going to happen to my teeth after seeing some people's situation. I also wonder though weather I dream about losing my teeth when I'm in fact grinding my teeth in my sleep. I know I do it and I often dream about my teeth breaking off.
Reply:it may be linked to a fear of losing something that is very important to you such as health, love, purpose. most likely nothing material and probably not your teeth unless you have some type of fixation or obsession with your mouth or smile
Reply:When iwas younger i use to have this dream all the time. I thought it something to do with my teeth fetish (i used to tihnk my teeth were never white enough, strait enough etc.) But after talking to my mom, and after taking a few years in pschology, and reading some dream analysis books, everyone says the same thing.

You could be having this dream because your life is hectic. The symbolism of the teeth falling out is loss of control. Do you feel out of control, like your life is not how you wanted. Are you stressed? Evaluate your life and perhaps this iterpretation will help...peace and love-chai
Reply:I used to have reoccurring dreams about my teeth falling out. Actually, it was more like they would crumble and fall apart in my mouth, it was horrible. I did a little research at the time, and found out that these dreams can be triggered by feelings of losing control.

Ex: Bills being out of hand, job instability, moving, etc.
Reply:YES!!!! they were all fallin out n then my tongue was fallin out n so were my gums--it was so scary!!!!! im so glad it was just a stupid dream!!!!!! i luv my smile!!!
Reply:Yes, i had this dream a very long time ago, not sure of the meaning, however, thank god my teeth did not fall out. it was something i do remember though. it really freaked me out. god bless
Reply:I don't have to dream-they are falling out! Seriously, I couldn't tell you. I hope someone gives you a good answer. Good luck.
Reply:YEs..Actually dreams about teeth and losing teeth are common and usually symbolize embarrassment or potentially embarrassing situations. Often the dream is troubling, although it does not contain the same fear or anxiety as a nightmare. In the dream, the teeth often are a concern only to the dreamer. Other characters in the dream either do not notice, or do not care, about the missing teeth.
Reply:Yes, I do have those dreams and mine started after I was told I would lose my teeth due to gum disease.

I had a gum surgery and am now fine but still have the dreams.
Reply:I have had some weird ones, but not about my teeth falling out.
Reply:Yes, I was a vampire, i think, and my fangs fell off. Haha.

When I woke up, I remembered a folk saying that if you dream of your teeth falling off, then it means you'd soon die. I kept waiting to die that day, but I never did, haha!
