Am I going to lose my teeth?

I guess I noticed this a few months ago. When I bite down and then push my front teeth with my tongue, it feels like they move a little. This doesn't really happen anymore, but one of my front teeth, not one directly in the front but to the side a littl, moves sometimes when I push it with my tongue. Ever since I realized this I cant help but to push my teeth to see if they are loose. I went to the dentist a couple weeks ago and he didn't say anything about my teeth being loose, and there werent any cavities or anything on any of those teeth. The teeth dont even move or barely move at all even when I push them with my finger. Now I i'm all paranoid that my teeth are going to fall out and its all I think about. Is it normal for my teeth to move like this and should I worry at all?

Am I going to lose my teeth?
i don't think you are going to lose your teeth. if the dentist thought so he would have said something.
Reply:I don't believe there is any reason to worry. There has to be some very slight movement of the teeth or they would break and chip every time you bit into something very hard.
Reply:it is a good chance that they are loose! Well, unless they are adult teeth growing in already.

Well if they are baby teeth, you have a better percent and chance that they are loose. But maybe try to ask a dentist about it, cause i'm not expert.

You shouldn't worry at all, your body should know what its doing.

hope this helpsss
Reply:Mine do the same thing. I wouldn't worry. Mention it to your dentist next time you see them. There is always a little give in your teeth.....i would stop playing with them though....you're stressing yourself out. And on a side note, have you ever looked at how long a tooth really is on the inside? The roots? They are very, very long....it's not just what you can see and feel. They are rooted in pretty well. I wouldn't worry. One other thing that may cause temporary loosening feelings is flossing...it tends to make the teeth feel more separated.
Reply:YOU are creating a problem...and it you will lose all of your teeth...by what you are doing...

drop this habbit...and leave your teeth alone...
Reply:Your teeth are held in the socket by ligaments and tissue. None are fused solid or rigid in the bone. They all can move a little and some more than others. That's the periodontal ligaments working like a cushion for the teeth. You'll be fine, ask your dentist next visit and he'll explain and show you a diagram or model. He may give you more info than your wanting though! Hope I've cleared this up for you.

Another reason that the teeth feel loose is from Perio disease. If you have been diagnosed with Perio disease, which starts out as gingivitis and advances from there in stages that eventually destroy the bone and the resultant is tooth loss, you should discuss your options with your dentist in regard to splinting the teeth if this is the case. But since you were just in to see the dentist I am assuming that you go on a regular basis and he wouldn't have let you leave the office without further discussion of the problem and treatment for it. I doubt this is your problem since you made no mention of this disease. It's not something that just hits you, it takes years and you go through various stages of perio disease before you get to to the point of tooth loss. Good luck and I think you can stop worrying, yours probably have the normal mobility.
Reply:I would definately go back to the dentist and point it out to him just to have that peace of mind. you are going to make yourself a wreck untill you do. I know because I am the same way. I just wouldn't feel good about it untill I got it checked it. I just had a tooth extraction 6 days ago and have worked myself into a state worrying abut dry socket. Which, so far I do not have. So I do know what you are going through. Good luck to you.
Reply:Your teeth are connected by roots, and these roots are alive, so they will allow for alittle give. My front teeth move alittle, and that is normal, it allows some give when you eat, drink, and just in daily life. If they become so loose that you are sur ethere is movement when you wiggle with your finger, than I would see your doctor just to make sure. I would not be worried about a littl emovement though, that is normal =]
