Does loss of teeth affect how I speak?

I lost two teeth a year ago as a result of periodontal disease and my reluctance to see the dentist. Initially i did not notice I have speaking problems, then as i began to frequently stutter, i was reminded of the fact that i lost two teeth. But the strange thing is every time when i wake up in the morning, i can talk perfectly fine (without self-consciousness maybe?) And there is always a week or two in a month when I can talk fluently. I usually get pretty nervous when i talk to people. I am just not sure if my speaking problem is caused by my fear or loss of teeth. I am a college student and that means i need to talk a lot. That's why i am asking for some advices.

Does loss of teeth affect how I speak?
I don't think it would cause stuttering.

It would only affect pronunciation of the word.

I think it is a psychological problem.

Good Luck,

Reply:Only if you lose your front teeth- problem with the S and Z
Reply:Not only that, but it makes you look old and crack-head like.
Reply:It's normal to stutter a little bit, but if you think you're doing it too much, talk to the college's doctors. Also, loss of teeth can affect speech, but not stuttering. If you're still worried about this, try seeing into fake frontal teeth. It might boost your confidence.
Reply:Yes, it does. Think about this: when you make different sounds with your mouth, such as "th" noises... like "mouth." When you say "mouth," the tip of your tongue touches your lower teeth. If you didn't have these lower teeth you might have more trouble making that sounds, as well as others, such as "s." You may sound a bit garbled.
Reply:i'm missing 3!

(my back teeth)

and don't listen to people when they bring up drugs

because it looks like you lost them from doing meth.

i would hate it when people say that because

HELLO! you could lose your teeeth from many other ways.

i lost my teeth because my enamel was very thin

and my teeth would always crack on me =(

(worst pain ever!)

and the only thing that i've noticed is that

i'm producing more saliva

so because of the saliva i sometimes tend to sound like i have something in my mouth (tons of saliva)

so i went to the dentist to see if maybe there was something wrong with my glads and nope! nothing wrong!

i just have to learn to deal with it.

this november will be a year since i've gotten them removed and i don't even notice the saliva anymore. i try not to think about. just when you notice it ignore it as best you can. hope everything works out! =)
Reply:Only the front teeth
