My Chihuahua (6 Months) has not lost his baby canine teeth yet and has the other coming underneath it already?

My Chi has not lost his baby canine teeth yet and there seems to be an overlapping canine teeth coming out from below. What should I do? Is this going to ruin his teeth structure? Should I go to the dentist? Please help!!

My nine month old still has her baby teeth and her adult teeth are coming in too. Do you feed only soft food? He needs something hard to eat or chew on the help work the teeth out. My vet said it wasn't a huge issue right now at this age.
Reply:He will be fine - that's how it works. The old teeth are pushed out by the new ones.
Reply:well didn't that happen to you
Reply:That's perfectly normal. Puppies lose their teeth in this way. You might want to get him a chew toy.
Reply:Sometimes the "milk teeth" (baby teeth) are retained even when the adult teeth are trying to break through. I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian ASAP as this could result in dental problems. Worst case scenario, the milk teeth may need to be extracted to allow the adult teeth to come in properly. But don't just wait for time to pass -- doing so may result in permanent dental problems %26amp; even could cause an infection which will be more painful for your puppy %26amp; more costly for you.
Reply:Give him some time. I've some lose them at 8 months or more with the fangs doubled (both baby and adult teeth out). I had on dog's canines taken out at 8 or 9 months old because they were really solid. If you can get even a little wiggle at 8 months, I'd leave it longer. Just try to clean between them to prevent the adult tooth from rotting. That's what I did with a female and sure enough they dropped out. If they are still in there at 12 months or so with no wiggle, get them taken out. Remember that the root of the baby tooth is disolving too.
