What percentage of hockey players have lost some teeth playing hockey?

I heard once it was 68% or something.

What percentage of hockey players have lost some teeth playing hockey?
While it was true at one time that players lost teeth sooner or later, I think you will find that since most young players have to wear not only a helmet but a full face shield until they are out of junior, iIt's hard to knock out a guys Chiclets through a cage. Many NHLers today also use an internal guard which can protect them to some extent. It's the same kind of guard used in boxing and the martial arts. Another thing to consider is that modern dentistry can replace teeth so those partials or plates are a thing of a past. And since hockey players make good dough, they can get their smile fixed up for those post game interviews.

I played over twenty years and never lost a tooth. I broke my arm, had a concussion and had my nose flattened on two occasions. But hockey never caused me to lose a tooth. I did break a tooth once on an extraordinarily hard Corn Pop though.
Reply:unless you're wearing a face mask 100%. If you havn't you need to get more agressive
Reply:What are you, a dentist? 68% seems VERY low to me, if you are speaking in terms of pro hockey. I would bet it is much higher. Rookies aren't even players until they lose a few pearls or in Mats Sundin's case, pegs.

They all lose some chicklets at some point.
Reply:This is how people are fooled by unproven statistics. Lol. Until someone finds a source and the source seems reliable, don't pay attention to a single number here. Though there's no harm in reading someone's reasoning as to why the number would be high.

Weird question. And I was just thinking about you today, Tracy Terry---after viewing my answers to show someone something in a debate, I saw your questions I have answered. Weird as this is, it's certainly a step up. Keep up the positive progress.
Reply:i have to wear a face mask(1: im a goalie 2: i play on 14 and under) unless their wearing a face mask it seems pretty high.even with the mouth guard
Reply:I think it's closer to like... 100%
Reply:I would say about 99.8% percent. The other .2% are bitches
Reply:~98% They have great dental plans. Teemu fake teeth look very good btw.

I'd like to add that I'm grateful you didn't ask a stupid asinine puck bunny question. I would've had to get out my can o' whoop puck bun @rse.
Reply:a lot....more defenders then anyone i think
Reply:I think the estimated numbers you are being given is very high. Perhaps in the old day when hockey players (including goalies) didn't wear masks/helmets I would say they all lost a few chicklets. But by today's less physical and more finesse style I would estimate it to be in the 25-30% area.

Remember, hockey has a reputation for being violent, but that is only a reputation not the fact anymore.
