Do only humans lose baby teeth and grow adult ones? Dogs, Monkeys, etc...do they lose baby teeth?

All mammals have two sets of teeth. The milk teeth and their adult teeth, it's one of the defining characteristics of our genera. Outside of hair, milk and our ear bones.

It's the price of having specialized teeth, all other vertibrates with teeth have an unlimited capacity to regrow their teeth. Their teeth are just variations on a cone shape though. No specialized crinders and cutters or chisels.

YES - only sharks don't
Reply:Most animals loose baby teeth. Dogs and cats usualy swallow them.
Reply:They almost all do, some have and infinite set of teeth always available to cover the lost ones
Reply:Dogs definitely do. and monkeys presumably so. Anything with teeth when little has to get adult teeth later, because teeth do not grow.
Reply:I know for sure dogs do, I have found several from my puppies.

I gather the same goes for cats and other animals.
Reply:Almost all animals with teeth have both baby and adult teeth.
Reply:I dunno about Monkeys, but puppies do. They usually swallow them, but I am sure if you look really hard you may find one in their food or something.
